Keanu Reeves: "Absolutely" Wants to Play Johnny Silverhand Again; "Cyberpunk 2" Teases New City, Eyes 2030 Release

Details on the upcoming sequel to "Cyberpunk 2077," tentatively titled "Cyberpunk 2," have been scarce since its announcement, but fans are buzzing about the potential return of one iconic character: Johnny Silverhand.

Keanu Reeves, currently promoting his new film "Good Fortune," recently told IGN that he "would absolutely love to play Johnny Silverhand again," reigniting speculation among players.

Reeves' deep connection with the "Cyberpunk" community dates back to E3 2019, where his now-iconic "You're breathtaking" moment during the "Cyberpunk 2077" release date announcement instantly went viral, cementing his place in gaming lore.

While fans are naturally thrilled by his willingness to return, Johnny Silverhand's potential reappearance in the sequel ultimately hinges on how CD Projekt RED decides to canonize one of "Cyberpunk 2077"'s multiple endings.

Meanwhile, Mike Pondsmith, creator of the original "Cyberpunk" tabletop RPG, offered a glimpse into the sequel's development at the Digital Dragons 2025 conference in May. He confirmed that while not deeply involved, he continues to review scripts and visit the development team.

Pondsmith further revealed that "Cyberpunk 2" will introduce a new city, coexisting with Night City. He described its atmosphere as "like a Chicago gone wrong," distinguishing it from the "Blade Runner"-esque sci-fi aesthetic of Night City.
