BANDAI SPIRITS' TAMASHII NATIONS collector's toy division in Japan has announced the latest product in its robot-themed action figure series, "ROBOT SPIRITS," featuring "Gargoyle" from the anime "Aura Battler Dunbine," slated for release in March 2026.
The Aura Battler "Gargoyle," which never appeared in the main anime series, originates from the "AURA FHANTASM" column in the model magazine "B-CLUB." Conceived by mechanical designer Yutaka Izubuchi, it is the successor to the Aura Battler "Billbine" from the Kingdom of Ku. Both its appearance and performance are enhanced for offensive power, wielding two battle axes made from high-hardness beast claws as its primary weapons, and equipped with two triple-barreled flamethrower cannons. However, due to the extensive grinding time required for battle axe production, its mass-producibility was inferior to other Aura Battlers with built-in firearms, and it never officially entered the production line.
"ROBOT SPIRITS Gargoyle" continues the design aesthetic of the "ROBOT SPIRITS Billbine (AURA FHANTASM Ver.)" released in 2020. It meticulously sculpts the highly organic armor, crafted from beast materials as per its design, and utilizes various shades of red and metallic colors to reproduce the armor's hues and the metallic texture of the head and multiple nozzles, presenting an aggressively cool appearance. The chest cockpit hatch armor is even made with transparent red parts and features a hatch deployment mechanism.
Accessories include rope parts to recreate the firing state of the dual arm claws, and two "battle axes" painted with various metallic colors. The battle axes can be stored on the arm-mounted hangers or held in both hands. Furthermore, original "ROBOT SPIRITS" extended grip parts are included, allowing them to be reconfigured into a naginata-like form with double-edged blades. Coupled with the highly flexible articulation throughout the body, it can be posed in various dynamic combat stances.
