Currently in pre-production, "Scary Movie 6" is already bringing back several original cast members. Now, the biggest question for audiences is whether the film's humor will be toned down due to shifts in social attitudes. Co-writer and co-star Marlon Wayans has offered his assurance, telling fans not to worry.
While promoting his new film "Him," Marlon recently spoke with "Entertainment Weekly" (EW). He first mentioned getting into peak physical shape for "Him" and is now actively slimming down for "Scary Movie 6." He then declared that everyone will have an equal opportunity to be mocked, promising absolutely no holds barred.

Marlon stated, "We've always been unapologetic. We just want to make people laugh. We don't care if you're sensitive; even sensitive people need to laugh at themselves. You know, we don't just make fun of you; you also get a chance to make fun of others. When we made 'White Chicks,' we were making fun of everybody — we made fun of Black people, we made fun of white people, we made fun of Hispanic people. That's what we do. We make fun of the world, we belittle the world. We're not doing it to hurt people; we're doing it to bring humor. You might offend somebody, but so what? Not every joke lands 100%. If you tell a joke and 100 people laugh and one person walks out, that's still a good joke."

Marlon continued, "But if 100 people walk out and one person laughs, then you told a bad joke. That's not to say the joke isn't funny, because that one person is laughing. But we want the majority to laugh and have a good time. This one we're doing, I think it's going to be a great conversation piece where we all get to laugh together. Three generations of people haven't seen a great comedy in a long time."

Marlon also recently teased that recent buzzworthy horror films like "Longlegs," "Nope," "Sinners," "Get Out," and "Heretic" are all potential targets for parody in the sixth installment. In the "Entertainment Weekly" (EW) interview, Marlon further elaborated on the importance of incorporating these films into the new movie.
Marlon explained, "I think you have to acknowledge that comedy has changed, not just horror movies, but movies have changed, audiences have changed, the world has changed. And I think the way you acknowledge that is you make the generation gap part of the conversation. That's how we're conceiving this movie, so we can talk about all of it. It's a conversation with these ridiculous characters who just happen to be going through all of this. The more pressure you put on the characters, the more horrific the scene, the more you really get to understand the essence of the characters."

The script for this installment is being penned by the Wayans brothers. Older brother Keenen Ivory Wayans directed and co-wrote the first two films, while the youngest, Shawn Wayans, and Marlon served as stars and co-writers for the first two. Michael Tiddes, a frequent collaborator with the Wayans brothers, is set to direct this film, having previously helmed the Wayans-led "A Haunted House" series and "Fifty Shades of Black."
In addition to Marlon, confirmed returning cast members include Regina Hall as Brenda and Anna Faris as Cindy. Marlon also hinted that they plan to bring back more familiar faces, but contracts have not yet been signed, so he could not reveal further details. "Scary Movie 6" is slated for a North American release on June 12, 2025.
