The Directors Guild of America (DGA) announced today that Christopher Nolan has been officially elected as its new president, succeeding Lesli Linka Glatter, who served two previous terms. In a statement, Nolan said: "Being elected President of the DGA is one of the greatest honors of my career. Our industry is undergoing tremendous change, and I am grateful to the Guild's members for entrusting me with this important responsibility. I also want to thank President Glatter for her leadership over the past four years. I look forward to working with her and the newly elected board to secure vital creative and economic protections for our members."
Glatter, who served as president for two terms, is a renowned television director in her own right, having helmed episodes for popular series such as "Mad Men," "The Newsroom," "House, M.D.," and "Homeland."

The election was held Saturday evening, U.S. time, with 167 delegates representing over 19,500 national union members participating in the biennial nationwide vote. In addition to Nolan's election as president, Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard ("A Beautiful Mind") was elected Second Vice President, and Gina Prince-Bythewood, director of the first "The Old Guard" film, was elected Third Vice President.
