While "Grand Theft Auto VI" is poised to be "the biggest game launch ever" and is eagerly anticipated by virtually every player, the upcoming title elicits absolutely no emotion from Steven Ogg, the actor who famously portrayed the unhinged Trevor Philips in "Grand Theft Auto V."
In a recent interview with YouTuber HarrisonShippp, Ogg was asked about his anticipation for "GTA 6." He responded bluntly, "I have no feeling inside."
He quickly clarified that this wasn't a reflection of his life, but rather his stance on gaming, stating, "I'm not a gamer. I've never played a video game, so I have absolutely no feeling."
Ogg has previously emphasized that he doesn't want players to conflate him with his in-game character. For some actors, participating in a video game is simply a job, not a personal passion. However, his recent comments didn't stop there, sparking further discussion.
Ogg also shared an amusing anecdote, recounting, "Someone told me, 'You should play 'GTA 5.' I asked him, 'Why?' He said, 'Because it's great!' So I replied, 'Well, one day you should also read Dostoevsky's 'Crime and Punishment.'' The person was left speechless."
He even pressed further, asking if the person knew the Russian literary master, concluding with, "Books are my thing." Ogg used this to underscore that asking him about his feelings on games is as incongruous as asking a non-reader about books.
While these remarks might seem a bit "off-kilter" or even arrogant, they highlight Ogg's consistent persona. Despite achieving widespread fame for his portrayal of Trevor, he hasn't become a gaming enthusiast as a result.
