Hideo Kojima officially pulled back the curtain on the first footage from "Death Stranding Mosquito," a brand-new animated film in the "Death Stranding" universe, during today's "Kojima Productions: Beyond the Strand" presentation. 
Produced by Kojima Productions, the animated feature is directed by Hiroshi Miyamoto, known for "HUG! Pretty Cure The Movie: All Stars Memories." The screenplay was penned by Aaron Guzikowski, whose previous credits include "Prisoners" and "Raised by Wolves."
While official details regarding the character's identity or the core plot remain under wraps, Kojima and Miyamoto revealed during their discussion that the title "Mosquito" directly refers to the protagonist, who possesses an ability to "absorb" something. Kojima specifically emphasized that this power is not bloodsucking but rather a mysterious, undisclosed element, with further specifics to be unveiled at a later date.
In terms of production, "Mosquito" employs a unique artistic approach: hand-drawn line art is digitally assembled to create the animation, blending traditional brushstrokes with modern technology for a distinctive visual style. The background art is handled by Studio Easter, a team that previously worked on "Dandadan," promising intricate and surreal environments.
Notably, "Death Stranding Mosquito" isn't the only "Death Stranding" media venture in the works. During the same event, Kojima also shared updates on the live-action "Death Stranding" film, a collaboration with A24, and simultaneously showcased footage from his upcoming game, "OD," offering fans a glimpse into the game master's expansive creative roadmap.
Despite offering only a few brief glimpses, the debut of "Death Stranding Mosquito" has successfully ignited fan curiosity about its narrative and the protagonist's enigmatic abilities.
