After graduating from the "Harry Potter" series, Emma Watson continued to star in films such as the live-action "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Bling Ring." However, since completing 2019's "Little Women," Watson has not taken on any new film or television roles for seven years, only appearing in occasional advertisements and endorsements. In a recent interview with "Hollywood Authentic," she explained the reasons behind her decision to step back from acting.
Watson confessed, "In some ways, I really hit the lottery [with acting]; what happened to me was very unusual. But more important than the acting itself is promoting the work, and the balance between those two can easily be broken. I think I'll be very frank: I don't miss promoting projects at all; I find the promotional aspect incredibly soul-crushing. But I do deeply miss using my skills and I deeply miss the artistic creation, I just realized that the part I truly loved doing was too small."

Watson continued, "Once you're on set, you don't have much time to rehearse. But when you start discussing a scene, or when I start preparing and thinking about how I want to perform, the moment the camera rolls, you completely forget everything and just focus on the present. It's a very intense form of meditation because there's nowhere else to go. That feeling of freedom, I really miss that. But I don't miss the pressure; I'd forgotten how immense it was. I recently did a small part in a play, just rehearsing with friends, and I thought, 'Oh my God, this pressure is immense!' And that play wasn't even performed publicly for a real audience. I just don't miss that feeling at all."
Watson also mentioned that she hasn't ruled out working behind the scenes in the future, and has been deeply involved in other work recently, though she's not ready to disclose the details. She believes she is currently in the happiest and healthiest phase of her life.
