Curtis Hanson's 1992 thriller "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle," directed by the filmmaker behind "L.A. Confidential," was a box office sleeper hit, grossing $140 million worldwide and becoming one of the year's most profitable low-budget films. Now, 33 years later, Hollywood is revisiting the chilling story with a brand-new remake, set to debut on streaming platforms this Halloween. Ahead of its release, audiences can now get their first look with the recently dropped trailer.

The new iteration of "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle" is directed by Michelle Garza Cervera, known for "Huesera: The Bone Woman," with a screenplay penned by Micah Bloomberg, writer of "Sanctuary." The cast features Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Raúl Castillo, and rising "scream queen" Maika Monroe, who has garnered acclaim for her roles in thrillers such as "Longlegs," "It Follows," and "Watcher."
The updated story maintains the original premise, following a mysterious nanny who moves into her employers' home and meticulously plots to usurp the wife's position within the family. The film is slated to premiere in North America on October 22, exclusively on Hulu.
