TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectibles division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, has announced the latest product from its 'S.H.MonsterArts' series, which combines exquisite monster sculpting with outstanding articulation technology. This new item, the 'Megaguirus Evolution Set,' based on the film "Godzilla x Megaguirus: The G Annihilation Strategy," is scheduled for release in March 2026.
In the story of "Godzilla x Megaguirus: The G Annihilation Strategy," the anti-Godzilla weapon "Dimension Tide" developed by Japan accidentally created a spacetime rift during a test firing. This led to the unexpected transfer of eggs from an ancient giant insect swarm, "Meganula," to the modern era. These eggs hatched into ferocious larvae, "Meganulon," which began preying on humans and multiplying rapidly. After molting into Meganula, they could use their tail stinger to pierce Godzilla and absorb his energy. They then supplied this energy to a single, unmolted giant Meganulon individual, transforming it into the ultimate combat form, the "Hyper Flying Dragon Megaguirus."
The "S.H.MonsterArts Megaguirus Evolution Set" features an articulated figure of the "Hyper Flying Dragon Megaguirus," crafted with an impressive size of 21 cm in length and 33 cm in width. Renowned monster sculptor Shinichi Wakasa served as the prototype creator, meticulously detailing the ferocious head filled with sharp teeth, the intricate patterns of its full-body carapace, and its pointed spines, among other highly biological details. Furthermore, its foreclaws, three pairs of abdominal legs, twin wings, and each segment of its body are equipped with multi-stage articulated joints that do not compromise the integrity of its sculpt, allowing for dynamic poses replicating its aerial combat scenes from the film.
The set also includes mini figures of 2 Meganulon and 5 Meganula. While these do not feature the same intricate color application as Megaguirus, which faithfully reproduces its on-screen appearance and biological texture, nor do they have articulated joints, their sculpting is still quite exquisite.
