Henry Cavill's departure from "The Witcher," where he portrayed Geralt of Rivia for the first three seasons of the Netflix video game adaptation, not only broke the hearts of countless fans but also led to significant skepticism regarding Liam Hemsworth, who is set to take over the lead role. Hemsworth was certainly aware of this backlash, but he chose not to let it severely impact his emotional state, instead opting to block it out as much as possible.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly (EW), Hemsworth admitted, "There was a lot of noise out there, and I had to step away from it because my focus started to get distracted. I've dealt with this kind of thing in the past, and you know, ultimately, I love making movies, I love telling stories, and I love performing. I just didn't want that to affect the way I told the story, so for most of last year, I stayed away from social media and the internet."

Addressing Cavill's exit, executive producer Lauren Hissrich acknowledged rumors of creative differences between her and Cavill. However, she clarified that Cavill's departure was to pursue other roles, and she did not want to restrict his career or force him into something he didn't want to do. Therefore, she considers Cavill's stepping down a mutual decision.

Anya Chalotra, who plays Yennefer, also shared her feelings upon first hearing about Cavill's exit. She recalled crying at the news, emphasizing the deep bond she and the entire cast shared. Having joined the series early in her career and invested so much into her character, the departure of such a significant cast member was particularly heartbreaking for her.

"The Witcher" is currently slated to conclude after its fifth season, with Hemsworth taking over the lead role starting with the fourth season, which premieres next month. Filming for the fifth season is also expected to wrap up next month, with a target premiere sometime next year. However, Hissrich remained reserved, stating that they have never seriously discussed how the entire series would end. She hinted, "This show's meaning isn't just built on one actor, nor is it just about me. It also has a series of books and video games, and we are just the third work to enter this world. So whether or not we get renewed, 'The Witcher' will continue to live on."
