Hollywood is currently experiencing a "Frankenstein" craze. Netflix is set to release Guillermo del Toro's new adaptation of "Frankenstein," which he wrote and directed, in November 2025. Warner Bros. Pictures is also slated to release "The Bride!" in March 2026. Now, even the classic 1970s comedy spoof "Young Frankenstein" is getting a prequel, with its cast already confirmed.

FX announced this morning that the prequel series to "Young Frankenstein," titled "Very Young Frankenstein," has confirmed its cast, including Dolly Wells, Spencer House, Nikki Crawford, Cary Elwes, Kumail Nanjiani, and Zach Galifianakis.
"Young Frankenstein" director Mel Brooks is returning as an executive producer for the series. Stefani Robinson, co-writer of the "What We Do in the Shadows" series, will serve as showrunner. Taika Waititi, director of the "What We Do in the Shadows" film, will direct the pilot episode and also executive produce. The series has not yet received a full season order, with only a pilot episode commissioned. Its future will depend on the pilot's performance.
