German director Edward Berger, known for "Conclave," is set to release his latest fall feature, "Ballad of a Small Player." The film begins its staggered theatrical rollout in select countries next Wednesday, followed by a global streaming debut. Tonight, the film unveiled its second trailer and a new key art poster (pictured below).
"Ballad of a Small Player" is adapted from the acclaimed 2014 novel of the same name by British author Lawrence Osborne. The screenplay was penned by Rowan Joffe, co-writer of "28 Weeks Later."

The official synopsis reads: Lord Doyle, seeking refuge in Macau, spends his days and nights in casinos, drinking and gambling away his remaining fortune. He quickly falls into deep debt, but finds an unexpected lifeline in a casino employee named Ine, a mysterious woman harboring her own dark secrets. Meanwhile, private detective Cynthia Black relentlessly pursues Doyle, determined to uncover the truth he desperately evades. As he seeks redemption, reality closes in like a cage, leaving him with nowhere to run.
The film's ensemble cast includes Fala Chen, Deannie Yip, Colin Farrell, and Tilda Swinton. It is slated for a limited theatrical release in the UK, Germany, and the US starting October 15, before its global premiere on Netflix on October 29.
