Following the massive success of "Barbie," Mattel has intensified its efforts to develop live-action adaptations of its iconic toy brands. These projects include a live-action "Hot Wheels" movie helmed by "Wicked" director Jon M. Chu, a new "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" film starring Jared Leto, and a "Magic 8 Ball" movie with a script by "Cocaine Bear" writer Jimmy Warden. However, the "Magic 8 Ball" adaptation has now undergone a significant change in direction.

Major entertainment outlets reported this morning that the "Magic 8 Ball" project has transitioned from a live-action feature film into a live-action series. "Glee" co-creator Brad Falchuk is now attached as a writer, with acclaimed thriller director M. Night Shyamalan, known for films like "Split," set to helm the pilot episode. Shyamalan himself teased the news last night on Instagram, sharing an image of the pilot script cover for the "Magic 8 Ball" series and asking, "Been working on this for years... Who wants to play?" Both Shyamalan and Falchuk will also serve as co-showrunners for the series. Details regarding the cast, streaming platform, and release date are yet to be announced.
