Japanese figure manufacturer Max Factory will release a "Motoko Kusanagi" 1/7 scale figure based on the manga Ghost in the Shell! It is priced at 29,800 JPY and is scheduled for release in October 2026.

The story of GHOST IN THE SHELL is set in the near future of 2029, where computer technology is highly advanced. Due to the rise of the mysterious hacker "Puppet Master" who initiates international terrorist acts, hacking into the Japanese Foreign Minister's cyborg interpreter, Major Motoko Kusanagi, who extensively uses prosthetics throughout her body, leads Public Security Section 9 in the investigation.

Max Factory's "Motoko Kusanagi" 1/7 scale figure stands approximately 30 cm tall and is sculpted by veteran原型師 Chieri (Max Factory), based on the cover illustration of the first volume of the manga. The figure captures a sense of age, imbuing it with a unique retro charm. Her hair and boots feature an aurora plating finish, inspired by optical camouflage, which changes appearance depending on the viewing angle. The smooth bodysuit contrasts sharply with the intricate mechanical parts, and the cables connected to her back are made from actual wires. The base is crafted from metal, conveying a sense of realism; its special frame-like design allows for upright display!
