Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company HOBBY Division, which offers the most diverse range of mobile suits in the 1/144 scale Gunpla 'HG (High Grade)' series, has announced the latest product from the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX", the "HG 1/144 01 Gundam", scheduled for release in January 2026. This product will only be sold exclusively on BANDAI's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The RX-78-01 01 Gundam is one of the RX-78 series Gundams developed by the Earth Federation Forces in the world of "GQuuuuuuX". Its design originates from the "RX-78-1 Prototype Gundam" in the main history of "Mobile Suit Gundam", but its appearance was thoroughly modified by designer Ikuto Yamashita. Unlike its fate in the main history where it was destroyed without any screen time, the 01 Gundam was immediately dispatched to reclaim the "RX-78-02 White Gundam" after it was stolen by the Principality of Zeon. Although it was ultimately destroyed, its active combat against Char in the series left a deep impression.
The "HG 1/144 01 Gundam" is modified from previously released White Gundam and Red Gundam kits. Not only are the full body armor parts replaced with the characteristic white, black, and red color scheme, but new parts are also used to recreate the head sculpt with a clear visor specification. It faithfully reproduces Ikuto Yamashita's design style, which blends realistic industrial aesthetics with sci-fi elements, as well as articulated joints that allow for various flexible poses. It can be posed in combat stances with armaments such as the Hyper Bazooka, Beam Rifle, Shield, and Beam Saber.
