World-renowned TV and film special effects company WETA Workshop's "The Miniature Skulls Collection," which offers a unique perspective on the creatures of "The Lord of the Rings" through the lens of excavated animal bones, recently announced a new release from "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug": the "SKULL OF SMAUG"! Shipping is expected to begin in Q2 2026, with a suggested retail price of 149 USD.

In the film story of "The Hobbit," the great dragon "Smaug" of Middle-earth occupied the Lonely Mountain, greedily guarding every treasure. He possessed not only immense intelligence, keen senses of smell, and a cunning personality, but also terrifying fire-breathing abilities. Although he ultimately met a dramatic end at the hands of the human archer "Bard" and his Black Arrow, Smaug truly represented the symbol of fire and death.

This piece is crafted from polystone, standing approximately 20 cm tall and measuring 26.5 cm long. Beyond the incredibly cool dragon skull, the horns on its head are a major highlight! According to the official website's description, the black keratin covering the slender horn cores is a substance that remains hard even after millennia. Mysterious golden material can also be found on its two rows of sharp teeth, a trace left by the melting of gold and silver treasures due to the internal heat from years of dwelling in the treasure mountain – truly super cool! Coupled with an articulated jaw design and a base that presents an obsidian visual effect, this is definitely an awesome collectible for any Lord of the Rings fan to consider.
