Daredevil Denies "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," "Avengers: Doomsday" Roles; Fans Suspect "Garfield-esque Misdirection"

Marvel star Charlie Cox recently denied that he would appear as Daredevil in the upcoming "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" and "Avengers: Doomsday" films during an interview at New York Comic-Con. However, many fans remain unconvinced, speculating that Cox might be employing a similar "misdirection" tactic to what Andrew Garfield used before the release of "Spider-Man: No Way Home."

"Everyone thinks I'm in 'Spider-Man' because I'm filming something in London, but I'm not," Cox stated. "I'm not in 'Spider-Man.'"

When pressed on whether he would appear in "Doomsday" or the 2027 film "Secret Wars," Cox remained firm, responding, "No, I'm just concentrating on 'Daredevil' right now." Yet, when the interviewer playfully remarked, "I'm not sure I can trust you," Cox offered a cryptic, "We'll see."

This ambiguous response immediately sparked widespread discussion online, with many fans drawing parallels to Andrew Garfield's repeated denials of his involvement in "No Way Home" prior to its release. Garfield later revealed that "lying to the internet for two years felt great" and likened the experience to "planning a surprise birthday party" for fans.

Speculation had been high for Cox's Daredevil to appear in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," especially after his cameo as Matt Murdock in "No Way Home." Furthermore, Jon Bernthal is confirmed to return as The Punisher in the film, which fueled fan theories about a potential collaboration with Tom Holland's Spider-Man. Despite the rumors, Cox's name is not currently listed on the official cast roster for "Avengers: Doomsday."

The confirmed cast for "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, and Sadie Sink, known for her role in "Stranger Things."
