Bandai Toys has announced the latest re-release product from the 1997 Toei Tokusatsu series B-Fighter, the "RE: Super Change Kabutack," scheduled for release in March 2026.
The 1997 Tokusatsu series B-Fighter was the 16th installment in Toei's Metal Hero series. The story tells of Dr. Torihiko Kogenji, who, in his quest to explore the mysterious object he discovered, the "Peace Star," created a series of self-aware, freely moving robots called "BEETLE Robots." However, he disappeared after their completion. After three years of sleep-learning, these robots officially began their activities. Some chose to build friendships with humans, while others learned the flaws of human society and became villains. They engaged in a battle to seize the 13 constellation "Peace Stars," which could grant wishes.
The protagonist of this re-release, "Kabutack," is a rhinoceros beetle-inspired robot. He occasionally appears flustered but possesses double the effort and courage of others. In his energy-saving Normal Mode, he has a cute appearance and demeanor, but upon transforming into Super Mode, he not only becomes incredibly cool but also fully unleashes his combat performance.
The "RE: Super Change Kabutack" is a re-release and improvement based on the toy product launched during its 1997 broadcast. It perfectly recreates the unique mechanism of flipping from Normal Mode to Super Mode. Modern adjustments have been made to some structures, specifically adding a detachable mechanism for the "Normal Mode face part" to the hip joint, and changing the neck joint to a ball joint, among other designs, further expanding the range of articulation.
Concurrently, the exterior color paintwork has also been refreshed in multiple areas. Not only have the parts that previously used stickers for color detailing on the original toy now been painted, but the painting range for the head, yellow lines on the chest, and the "K" letter on the waist have also been updated, bringing it closer to the appearance of the suit in the show.
