Remember when Lucasfilm announced in 2020 that it was developing a "Star Wars" spinoff film titled "Rogue Squadron"? At the time, Lucasfilm was highly confident, not only bringing in "Wonder Woman" franchise director Patty Jenkins (pictured below) to helm the project, but also having her film a promotional video (see link below) in advance for a San Diego Comic-Con promotional event. Yet, five years after that promo was released, principal photography for the actual film has still not begun.

Over the past five years, "Rogue Squadron" has seen multiple development halts and resumptions. After its original December 22, 2023, release date was pulled in 2022, no new date was announced, and official updates on the film went silent. However, prominent entertainment scooper MyTimeToShineH recently claimed that the "Rogue Squadron" project is still alive, but has shifted from a planned theatrical film to a streaming series. Whether Jenkins remains involved is currently unknown.
