The original "That Man From Rio" follows pilot Adrien, whose fiancée Agnès is kidnapped by thieves and taken to Rio de Janeiro. Agnès's explorer father knew the location of a lost Amazon jungle statue, but he died during an Amazon expedition, leaving Agnès as the sole person aware of its whereabouts. To rescue his beloved fiancée, Adrien is forced into a thrilling chase adventure.

A spoof of James Bond films and drawing inspiration from "The Adventures of Tintin" comics, "That Man From Rio" was highly popular upon its release. It earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Even Steven Spielberg admitted to being a fan, having rewatched the film multiple times. He cited it as a key inspiration for his "Indiana Jones" film series.
