Japanese toy company FREEing (株式会社 FREEing) has released a new product in its large-scale character figure "B-style" series, based on the popular anime "My Hero Academia"—the "Izuku Midoriya Metallic Ver." 1/4 scale pre-painted figure. The suggested retail price is 33,000 JPY, with an anticipated release in April 2026!
"My Hero Academia" is a superhero-themed manga by Kohei Horikoshi, serialized in Shueisha's "Weekly Shonen Jump" since 2014. In 2016, it was adapted into a TV anime by animation studio BONES. The story follows Izuku Midoriya, a protagonist born without a "Quirk" (superpower) in an era where such abilities are commonplace. He inherits the "One For All" Quirk from the number one hero, All Might, and grows at U.A. High School, the top hero academy, striving to become the greatest hero.
The "Izuku Midoriya Metallic Ver." 1/4 scale pre-painted figure uses the same sculpt as the B-style Izuku Midoriya released in 2022. The figure stands approximately 34.8 cm tall, depicting Izuku (Deku) in his hero costume, leaping forward and preparing to punch. Details such as his belt, gloves, and shoot-style support gear are exquisitely rendered! The biggest highlight this time is the full-body application of pearl and metallic gloss paint to the costume. The smoke effects at his feet, made from translucent material, have also been updated with a light green color. Under light, the figure emits a dazzling metallic sheen, creating an effect as if enveloped by green lightning, significantly enhancing its overall visual impact!
