Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS has officially unveiled a new product under its articulated figure brand "S.H.MonsterArts," which combines exquisite monster sculpting with excellent articulation technology. This new series, "-Movie Graphic Plus-," features the "Godzilla (1954)" articulated figure, based on the 1954 film "Godzilla." It has a suggested retail price of 11,000 JPY and is scheduled for release in April 2026!
The origin of the Godzilla series, the 1954 film "Godzilla," was directed by Ishirō Honda, with Eiji Tsuburaya in charge of special effects, and distributed by Toho Co., Ltd. Inspired by the previous year's Hollywood film "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms," it tells the story of the ancient giant monster Godzilla awakening due to hydrogen bomb testing and beginning its invasion of Tokyo, the capital of Japan, embodying post-war Japan's complex emotions regarding the implications of atomic weapons.
This -Movie Graphic Plus- Godzilla (1954) is a recolor based on the 2016 version, whose sculpt and coloring were both produced by renowned Godzilla sculptor Yuji Sakai. Color adjustments have been made according to its appearance in the film; the skin color is darker than the original version, and the mouth and dorsal fins are painted with pearlescent white to create a glowing effect, recreating the high-contrast image from the black-and-white film when it unleashes its atomic breath! Additionally, the new "-Movie Graphic Plus-" series will also include an extra classic "Godzilla" movie poster paper card in addition to the monster itself!
