Two months ago, Paramount Pictures outbid rivals, including Universal Pictures and director Steven Spielberg, to secure the film adaptation rights for the highly popular "Call of Duty" video game franchise. Today, the creative team behind the project has been revealed.
Deadline reports that Peter Berg, the director known for films such as "Hancock" and "Lone Survivor," is confirmed to helm the live-action adaptation. Taylor Sheridan, the acclaimed screenwriter of "Sicario" who has recently dominated television with the "Yellowstone" universe, will pen the script.

Berg and Sheridan are longtime friends, and this marks a reunion for the duo. Berg previously produced Sheridan's Western "Hell or High Water" and his directorial effort "Wind River." Both Berg and Sheridan began their careers as actors before finding significant success transitioning to behind-the-scenes roles. In addition to directing, Berg will co-write the screenplay with Sheridan, and both will serve as producers on the film.
