Bandai Co., Ltd., a popular Japanese toy company, has announced the latest product from its popular Tokusatsu and Kaiju-themed soft vinyl toy series 'MOVIE MONSTER': the 'Mothra Larva (2003) Twin Set,' based on the film "Godzilla x Mothra x Mechagodzilla: Tokyo SOS," scheduled for release on November 22, 2025.
The Mothra appearing in "Tokyo SOS" is a descendant of the original 1961 Mothra. Alongside the Shobijin (Cosmos), Mothra warned humanity to abandon the use of Kiryu while simultaneously preventing Godzilla from attacking Tokyo. However, successive battles left Mothra severely wounded, and she was subsequently killed by Godzilla while protecting the twin Mothra larvae who had arrived to provide support. Upon witnessing their mother's death, the twin larvae's eyes turned red with grief and fury. They joined forces with Kiryu to battle Godzilla, ultimately succeeding in completely restraining Godzilla's movements with their silk.
The 'MOVIE MONSTER Mothra Larva (2003) Twin Set' includes two Mothra larvae, one male and one female. Each is crafted to an approximate length of 12 cm, meticulously reproducing the biological wrinkles, indentations, and antennae on their heads, as well as their segmented brown bodies and the distinct protrusions along their sides. Furthermore, differences in the sculpts distinguish the male and female individuals: the male larva features dense black spots on its head, while the female larva has a more raised head.
