Perfectly Recreating the Acclaimed Sequel on Your Desk! A Review of Hasbro's Marvel Legends "X-Men '97" Carded Figures

In March 2024, Marvel's "X-Men '97" premiered on the Disney+ streaming platform. This animated series not only continues the story of the 1990s animated show but also pays homage to its style in art and music. It garnered intense anticipation from fans before its release and received widespread critical acclaim and response after its debut. Its significance in bridging the old and new is extraordinary, making it a prime example of a classic continuation.

The "Marvel Legends Series" by the internationally renowned toy manufacturer "Hasbro" had previously released two waves of six-inch action figures for this animated series. Today's Toy-People review brings you the latest, third wave of carded figures. Not only is the packaging retro, but the sculpts are also incredibly accurate. Of course, as action figures, the joint design and high degree of articulation are major strengths of the Marvel Legends line. Whether for simple display or dynamic play, they are sure to bring immense satisfaction. Without further ado, let's dive into today's main event!

▼Here are the six main characters from this review. The packaging uses a uniform carded format, allowing the figure and its accessories to be seen at a glance.

▼"Logan": The universally recognized representative of the X-Men—"Wolverine." Born with a mutant healing factor, his Adamantium-laced skeleton and sharp claws make him an indestructible berserker. This figure features his civilian attire as seen in the animation, showing a more casual side of Logan.

▼The sculpt, naturally, adopts a strong animated style, which can be felt from the clean lines of the leather jacket.

▼The head sculpt also faithfully recreates his animated appearance, featuring a more serious expression this time. The stubble and eyes are both rendered with printed details.

▼The plaid pattern on his shirt and his chest hair are also represented through printing.

▼A set of playing cards is also included as an accessory. Now, the question is, can this straight flush beat a full house?

▼He can hold the cards after swapping to the alternate hand parts.

▼The claw parts this time have also been made with different lengths to match the animation style. A definite plus!

▼Look at that cool, masculine charm. This is an absolute must-have for Wolverine fans!

▼"Morph", real name Kevin Sidney, was born with the ability to shapeshift, allowing him to change his form at will, mimicking appearances, voices, and postures. His humorous personality and quick-witted nature have made him a beloved member of the team.

▼Based on his animated design and slender physique, this figure recreates his look of wearing a leather jacket over his uniform.

▼It comes with three head sculpts, including his classic white-haired look, a handsome, beautified version, and the X-Men's classic adversary, Henry Gyrich.

▼Although he's not a primary combatant on the team, his special ability of disguise is highly valued by the X-Men.

▼The body used for this figure is a brand-new pinless version, balancing visual appeal with a high degree of articulation.

▼This Gyrich head sculpt looks like it would be even more suitable on other suit bodies.

▼Even though he's not a frontline main character, you can still feel the care put into the design. This is a commendable strength of the Marvel Legends series!

▼"Jubilee", real name Jubilation Lee, is a young member of the X-Men. She can release firework-like plasmoid energy spheres from her hands and control the timing and location of their detonation at will. After her mutant powers awakened, she joined the X-Men and developed a close friendship with Wolverine, serving as a bridge between the old and new generations of mutants.

▼A new body is used to recreate Jubilee's battle look from the latter part of the first season.

▼The brand-new head sculpt is a major highlight this time; its accuracy is simply impeccable.

▼It comes with a drink accessory. I'm guessing it's about 70% sugar.

▼Another major highlight—brand-new firework effect hands custom-made for Jubilee!! This alone makes the figure worth getting!

▼The coat is made of a soft plastic material, recreating the look while minimizing hindrance to articulation as much as possible.

▼These firework effects are truly fantastic. A dream come true!

▼"Sunspot", real name Roberto Da Costa, is the son of a wealthy Afro-Brazilian businessman. He can absorb solar energy, converting and storing it in his cells to be released when needed. When his powers are fully active, he absorbs ambient light, causing his entire body to turn completely black. After his mutant abilities awakened, he struggled with his identity and family acceptance before being taken in by the X-Men. He developed a relationship with Jubilee that transcended friendship, becoming one of the representatives of the team's younger generation.

▼The figure recreates Sunspot's appearance in his uniform from the end of the first season.

▼A handsome head sculpt, capturing Roberto's skin tone and curly hair.

▼It includes two effect parts, also brand-new and custom-made for Sunspot.

▼Perhaps one day we can look forward to a fully powered-up, all-black body version?

▼Let the youth forge the path for the new generation of mutants!

▼"Emma Frost": Formerly the White Queen of the Hellfire Club, she possesses powerful telepathic abilities on par with Jean Grey. During the large-scale mutant massacre on Genosha in "X-Men '97," she awakened her diamond form and survived.

▼Based on Emma's classic look. Enough said, those who know, know.

▼It comes with two alternate head sculpts. First, let's look at this confident, smiling face. Her beautiful features are likewise rendered with printed details.

▼The other is a version with a toothy grin and flowing hair.

▼The body is also the evolved pinless version. Clean and sharp.

▼Looking forward to seeing more of her in the second season.

▼"Cable": Real name Nathan Summers, he is the son of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor, a clone of Jean Grey. His birth was orchestrated behind the scenes by Mr. Sinister. He was later infected with the Techno-organic virus and had to be sent to the future for treatment, where he became a resistance fighter against the tyranny of Apocalypse. In "X-Men '97," he returns to the past to help his father and the X-Men stop Bastion's plan.

▼Since this is the '97 line, the design is naturally based on his appearance in the animation. It comes with two weapons as accessories.

▼The head sculpt also faithfully recreates his cartoon look, using printing to depict the wrinkles on his face.

▼When you think of Cable, big, heavy weapons are an absolute must.

▼This one is a bit smaller, but still incredibly cool.

▼The entire figure is almost an entirely new sculpt. The design of the shoulder strap cleverly avoids hindering articulation.

▼It also includes a pair of effect parts that can be attached to both guns to represent the moment of firing!

▼The cable connecting the past and the future—that man is our Cable!

▼That concludes our review of the Marvel Legends Series "X-Men '97" carded figures. For X-Men fans, nearly every figure is a can't-miss item. Be sure to seize the opportunity to add them to your collection! We'll see you in the next review!
