To commemorate the 70th anniversary of Japan's iconic tokusatsu monster, Godzilla, Bandai Co., Ltd.'s Digimon LCD toy, the 'Virtual Pet Device,' has once again announced a collaboration with Godzilla, teasing the release of the second wave product, 'Godzilla VS Digimon PENDULUM COLOR,' with a release date yet to be determined.
Digimon Pendulum (デジモンペンデュラム; hereinafter referred to as 'Pendulum') is the successor to the original 'Virtual Pet Device' released in August 1998, achieving an astonishing sales record of over 2.5 million units at the time. Compared to its predecessor, Pendulum added more enriched gameplay elements, such as Digimon attributes and a new evolution method, 'Jogress Evolution.' Its most significant feature was the series' first-ever introduction of the 'Pendulum function,' which allows players to meet conditions through different shaking counts or frequencies, thereby influencing the results of various events like training, battles, and evolution!
The first collaboration product, 'Virtual Pet Device COLOR Godzilla 70th Edition,' featured elements such as the ability to raise various Toho monsters like Godzilla, King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Mechagodzilla, as well as multiple original evolution routes combining Godzilla and Digimon. This time, the 'Godzilla VS Digimon PENDULUM COLOR' is expected to be developed based on the previously released 'ver.20th Reissue.' In addition to new monsters like 'Burning Millennium Godzilla' and 'Gatling Gigan,' players can also look forward to gameplay enhanced by the integration of the Pendulum function!
