Rockstar Games recently announced a second delay for "Grand Theft Auto VI," pushing its anticipated launch to November 2026. This six-month setback from the previously targeted May 2026 release not only means console players will wait several more seasons, but for PC players, it undoubtedly plunges them back into the "infinite waiting loop."

Following the announcement, fans flocked to the official website for updates, where the game page now reflects the new date, confirming the release platforms remain exclusively PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, consistent with Rockstar's historical pattern, the PC version typically arrives a year or more after the console launch.
Of course, this isn't Rockstar's first time delaying a PC release. Take "Grand Theft Auto V" as an example: it first launched on PS3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, then arrived on next-gen consoles in November of the following year, and finally, the PC version didn't release until April 2015—a full 18 months later.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" saw a comparatively shorter wait, with its console version releasing in October 2018 and PC players getting it in November 2019. The original "Red Dead Redemption," however, had an astonishing 14-year wait, finally making its PC debut in late 2024.
Regarding this release strategy, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, Rockstar's parent company, once stated that historically, Rockstar has always launched titles on certain platforms first before porting them to others. He also noted that the PC market is increasingly important to the company's business, a trend he expects to continue.

As for why "GTA 6" won't include a PC version at launch, Rockstar has yet to offer a public explanation. However, former developer Mike York once revealed that the PC version is "always being developed in the background," primarily serving as a testing and support environment for other versions, and therefore isn't prioritized for completion.
He explained that the PC version "always exists, but it's not polished enough, nor is it the main focus during early development."
Rumors suggest Rockstar is also working on a next-gen port of "Red Dead Redemption 2" for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2, expected this year. Additionally, a "GTA 4" remaster is reportedly slated for 2025. Meanwhile, "GTA Online" continues to receive updates and new content, recently adding GTA+ membership services, and there are even whispers of "GTA 5" returning to the PlayStation Plus game catalog.
Given Rockstar's historical release cadence, the PC version of "GTA 6" will very likely arrive a year later, at the earliest, by late 2027. For eager PC players, this wait may have only just begun.
