The "Alien" franchise's first spin-off series, "Alien: Earth," premiered this summer to considerable buzz and strong streaming viewership. While initial episodes of the first season garnered high praise, some viewers expressed dissatisfaction with the season finale. Nevertheless, the overall performance was robust enough for Disney and its subsidiary FX to greenlight further storytelling, as they recently announced the series has been renewed for a second season.

In addition to the renewal, producer Noah Hawley has inked a new overall deal with FX and Disney Entertainment Television. Sources indicate the new contract is a nine-figure agreement. Furthermore, while the first season filmed in Thailand, production for the second season will relocate to London, UK, with principal photography expected to commence next year. Hawley initially conceived "Alien: Earth" as a multi-season narrative, having already outlined its overarching structure and planted early seeds for future storylines. The continuation, he noted, ultimately hinges on sustained audience engagement and viewership.
