TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, has officially announced the latest product from its classic alloy toy "Chogokin" series: "ASTRO & Dual Speeder," based on the popular PS5 game "Astro Bot," is scheduled for release in June 2026.
Released in 2024, the PS5 exclusive title "Astro Bot" is an action-adventure game developed by Team ASOBI, a division of Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Studio. Players take on the role of the adorable robot "ASTRO" to search for his robot crew members, who were scattered across various star systems after the PS5® mothership was destroyed. Its level design is inspired by games such as Nintendo's "Super Mario Bros." series, and it perfectly integrates the "haptic feedback" and "built-in speaker" functions of the DualSense wireless controller, providing players with an immersive adventure experience. This game also won four awards at TGA 2024, including Game of the Year and Best Action/Adventure Game.
For the "Chogokin ASTRO & Dual Speeder," ASTRO's adorable, petite body is recreated using transparent parts and multi-color paint applications. Its limbs feature articulated designs for posing, and its screen-like face is produced with 3D printing, allowing its expression to change when viewed from different angles!
The flight vehicle, the "Dual Speeder," precisely recreates the shape of the DualSense wireless controller using 3D scanning technology. Both its tactile feel when held and the press functionality of its various buttons are faithfully reproduced, with some parts made from alloy material for a substantial weight. Furthermore, the model features an original transformation mechanism: by pressing the buttons in sequence, the wings and thrusters can be deployed. LED lighting is also installed within the thrusters to simulate engine propulsion!
