In an exclusive report today, Deadline announced that Hong Kong action maestro John Woo and Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage are set to reunite for a new film, marking their third collaboration after "Face/Off" and "Windtalkers." This upcoming project, however, is not the "Face/Off" sequel currently in development with other directors. Instead, it's a biopic centered on Carlo Gambino, the notorious head of the infamous Italian mafia organization, the Gambino family.

The film is simply titled "Gambino," with Cage starring in the titular role. The screenplay is co-written by George Gallo, known for "Midnight Run," and Academy Award winner Nick Vallelonga, who penned "Green Book." The narrative will unfold from the perspective of the late Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jimmy Breslin, whose relentless investigation pieces together the true life story of the legendary mob boss. Distribution rights for "Gambino" are currently being sold at the American Film Market.
