The reasons behind the failure of the 2015 "Fantastic Four" (Fant4stic) have been widely debated. Some attribute it to excessive interference from 20th Century Fox executives, leading to a chaotic final product. Other rumors point to director Josh Trank's notoriously erratic behavior during production, citing clashes with studio brass and tense, frequent conflicts with the cast. Ultimately, the studio reportedly sidelined Trank midway through, forcibly taking over extensive reshoots and post-production.

Teller further reflected on the experience, stating, "Especially for young actors at that time, if you wanted to be seen as someone who could carry a leading role, you had to jump on the superhero movie trend, and that film was a huge opportunity for us." He added, "I really liked the cast, I admired those actors, but when I first watched the movie, I remember telling a studio executive, 'I think we have a big problem.'"
