From BANDAI SPIRITS' collectors division, TAMASHII NATIONS, comes the GUNDAM UNIVERSE series of 6-inch articulated action figures designed for Mobile Suit Gundam fans worldwide. At the TAMASHII NATION 2025 event, the series unveiled prototypes for two of its latest products: the Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam and the Sinanju. The release dates are yet to be announced.
Launched in 2019, the GUNDAM UNIVERSE series features 6-inch tall, fully articulated Gundam action figures. The mecha designs often differ from the source material, featuring sharper, more robust, and more three-dimensional armor lines from every angle. The joints are designed to be extremely sturdy, making them perfect for play. While the toys are durable, they have had drawbacks such as overly bold sculpting in some areas and lower-than-expected articulation. In 2025, Bandai decided to revamp the series, introducing a new, highly articulated internal frame for all future releases.
The ZGMF/A-262B Strike Freedom Gundam Type II, piloted by Kira Yamato in the movie *Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM*, is a new mobile suit upgraded by Morgenroete Inc. with the latest technology. While its external appearance remains largely unchanged, all of its armaments, except for the high-energy beam rifle, have been updated. When combined with the new "Proud Defender" enhancement pack piloted by Lacus Clyne, it becomes the ZGMF/A-262PD-P Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam. This form can unleash the secret "Convergent Heavy Nucleon Beam Cannon" hidden in its forehead and the "Futsunomitama," an incredibly powerful physical sword.
The MSN-06S Sinanju was originally the "Sinanju Stein," a prototype mobile suit developed by Anaheim Electronics to gather performance data on the Psyco-Frame. It incorporated thruster technology from the "MSN-04 Sazabi" and, like the "RX-93 ν Gundam," was built with a movable frame and Psyco-Frame. The verification data from this unit was crucial for the completion of the "RX-0 Unicorn Gundam." However, in U.C. 0094, Anaheim secretly transferred two of these units to the Neo Zeon remnants known as the "Sleeves." One of them became the personal machine of their leader, Full Frontal. Its striking red paint scheme and exceptional performance are reminiscent of the legendary "Red Comet."
