Japanese company X-PLUS (株式会社エクスプラス) is releasing a new product based on the classic Universal Monsters film "Frankenstein": the "Frankenstein (1931)" Retro Soft Vinyl figure. It has a suggested retail price of 16,500 JPY and is scheduled for release in April 2026!
The 1931 film "Frankenstein" is an adaptation of Mary Shelley's novel of the same name. The story unfolds in a Bavarian Alpine village, where scientist Henry Frankenstein creates a monster using corpses and lightning. The monster's appearance is grotesque and its strength astonishing, leading to fear and misunderstanding among the people...
This Frankenstein's Monster (also known as the Creature) stands approximately 27 cm tall and features rotatable articulation at the head, shoulders, and waist. The prototype was sculpted by "HandsomeTaroM" (ハンサムタロウエム), a soft vinyl figure manufacturer renowned for their exceptional sculpting skills and mastery of retro soft vinyl materials. Despite the compressed body proportions, details such as the scars and rivets on Frankenstein's face and the wrinkles in his clothing are meticulously recreated. The use of soft vinyl material, combined with exquisite painting, faithfully reproduces the unique atmosphere characteristic of Showa-era soft vinyl figures, presenting Frankenstein's timeless charm with a distinctive "gummy" feel and rich, saturated colors in a high-quality finish!
