The popular alloy toy series 『METAL BUILD』, released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, has officially announced its latest product from the anime Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, the "Gundam Barbatos (4th Form) + Boomerang Mace", slated for release in June 2026.

The ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos is the mobile suit piloted by protagonist Mikazuki Augus in Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. It was originally one of 72 Gundam Frame units built 300 years ago during the "Calamity War" to combat Mobile Armors (MAs). Although its armor has deteriorated after centuries of storage, the frame's performance remains perfectly intact, featuring flexible articulation, high mobility, and high versatility, excelling in close-quarters melee combat. Its reaction capabilities are further enhanced when linked with Mikazuki's Alaya-Vijnana System, allowing for intuitive control of the mobile suit's posture directly through the brain, enabling explosive movements and power even in gravity environments.

The "METAL BUILD Gundam Barbatos (4th Form) + Boomerang Mace" has been meticulously supervised and re-designed with development drawings by Naohiro Washio, the original mechanical designer. Integrating the METAL BUILD series' signature style, Gundam Barbatos is imbued with even higher-density detail, from the exposed mechanical structures of the frame to the layered design of the exterior armor, all richly enhanced to perfectly capture the world of Iron-Blooded Orphans.

Notably, the "Gundam Frame", which defines Gundam-type mobile suits in the anime's setting, is extensively constructed with numerous alloy parts. This not only provides a substantial metallic feel visually but also allows for the observation of intricate interlocking mechanisms in various joints and hydraulic cylinders during posing. This grants Gundam Barbatos an exceptionally wide range of articulation, perfectly replicating the human-like flexibility achieved through the "Alaya-Vijnana System" as seen in the series.

Regarding armaments, the "Mace" and two "Katanas" from the original series have also been reinterpreted with METAL BUILD's distinctive style, featuring high-density detailed sculpting. Furthermore, Naohiro Washio and anime director Tatsuyuki Nagai have designed entirely new armaments for this product, including a "Cape" and the "Boomerang Mace". The cape is crafted from fabric material, showcasing a weathered texture through mottled colors, frayed edges, and rich folds. It features an internal metal wire for shape adjustment, and is printed with the Tekkadan logo on one side and a somewhat chuunibyou-esque phonetic rendition of the protagonist's name, "Mikazuki Ohgashu," on the other.

The highly distinctive "Boomerang Mace" is a new weapon that functions as both a blunt instrument and a projectile. It can be folded and stored on Barbatos's back mount when not in use. When deployed, the weapon features four grip points, allowing Barbatos to wield, swing, or throw it with one or two hands. Coupled with the included clear display stand, dynamic throwing scenes can be perfectly recreated.
