TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, has announced the latest product from its 'ROBOT魂 ver. A.N.I.M.E.' series of robot-themed articulated finished figures, the "Robert Gilliam's Custom High Mobility Zaku II", scheduled for release in June 2026, originating from "Mobile Suit Gundam MSV".
The pilot of this blue and yellow MS-06R-2 High Mobility Zaku II (R-2 Type) is Captain Robert Gilliam, an ace pilot belonging to the Principality of Zeon's Assault Mobile Fleet, who rose to prominence during the One Year War. Only four units of this mobile suit were produced at the time, and Robert was one of the ace pilots to receive one, deploying with a corps stationed around Granada and accumulating over 100 mobile suit kills. However, his character background has never been fully established in official history. In the gaiden manga "Universal Century Heroes: Legend of the Rainbow Shin Matsunaga," he is depicted as a ruthless individual who would stop at nothing to achieve his goals, having been a member of Gihren Zabi's Royal Guard and participating in the assassination of Shin Matsunaga's father.
The "ROBOT魂 Robert Gilliam's Custom High Mobility Zaku II ver. A.N.I.M.E." is based on modifications from previously released High Mobility Zaku II series products, utilizing new molded part colors, paint applications, and body marking prints to faithfully reproduce the distinctive blue and yellow color scheme of this mobile suit. The overall design maintains a refined silhouette that closely matches the anime's design drafts, combined with various flexible articulation features. With a built-in movable axis in the chest, embedded joints behind the knees, a rotating power pipe mechanism, and a movable mono-eye camera, it can be posed in a variety of natural and dynamic stances.
The weapon accessories include a rich array of armaments such as the Zaku Bazooka, Zaku Machine Gun, Giant Bazooka, and Heat Hawk, along with various shooting effects, explosion effects, and curved/straight thruster effects that can be attached to nozzles all over the body. With dedicated connecting parts, each weapon can be mounted on various parts of the mobile suit, allowing for cool and immersive battle poses when combined with the main body's flexible articulation!
