Highly anticipated ahead of its release, "Zootopia 2" immediately shattered multiple box office records upon its debut. As of last Sunday, "Zootopia 2" had grossed an astounding $556 million worldwide. It not only claimed the top spot at the North American and global box offices last weekend but also marked the highest opening weekend performance of the year. Of the $556 million, $156 million came from the domestic US market, with international territories contributing $400 million. A significant $272 million of that overseas total was generated in China.

"Zootopia 2" has proven immensely popular in China. On its opening day alone, it became the first Hollywood film in history to surpass $100 million in a single day in China and set a new record for the highest opening day for a non-local animated film in Chinese history. Its opening weekend box office quickly surpassed the original film's entire Chinese run, which totaled $236 million.
Globally, "Zootopia 2"'s $556 million opening also surpassed the previous record of $431 million set by "Nezha," making it the highest-grossing animated film opening in cinematic history. Furthermore, it topped the $389 million record previously held by fellow Disney Animation title "Moana 2," solidifying its place as the highest-grossing animated sequel opening in film history.
