Netflix's hit series "Stranger Things" officially dropped the first part of its final season on November 26, 2025. Beyond the on-screen drama, fans have unearthed an even more immersive "Easter egg" planted by the production team in the real world: a phone number on a missing girl poster from the show actually connects, and the recorded message is chilling.
In the fifth season's premiere episode, "Chapter One: The Crawl," a missing person poster for "Jane Hopper," also known as "Eleven," is prominently displayed on the walls of Hawkins High School. Intriguingly, Entertainment Weekly actually dialed the Indiana area code phone number printed on the poster and discovered it connected to a pre-recorded message.
Upon connecting, an unknown official, presumably from the Hawkins authorities, calmly but sternly states: "Thank you for contacting the Hawkins Police Department." Keyboard clicks and rustling paper sounds in the background create a tense, investigative atmosphere. The voice then references a "recent 7.4 magnitude earthquake" and declares Hawkins is under a complete lockdown to ensure resident safety.
The recording further echoes the plot's central urgency to find "Eleven," concluding with a plea for public assistance in the search before automatically disconnecting. This eerie warning tone, combined with the real, dialable number, has fans exclaiming it's "scarier than the Upside Down."
"Stranger Things" Season 5 Part 1 is now streaming on Netflix. Part 2 is set to release on December 25, 2025, with the series finale airing on December 31, 2025.
