Danish toy company LEGO has recently been unveiling a wealth of new products set to release in 2026. This article will introduce the new Technic series set number 42221, the "NASA Artemis Space Launch System Rocket"! It will retail for US$59.99 and is expected to be released on January 1, 2026.
Toy enthusiasts, do you remember the LEGO Icons series "10341 Artemis Space Launch System"? That exquisite model featured a beautiful rocket and launchpad combination, standing an impressive 70 cm tall, making it a substantial display piece. This time, LEGO, in collaboration with NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and ESA (European Space Agency), has created the "42221 NASA Artemis Space Launch System Rocket" to allow LEGO fans to manually control and fully experience the thrilling moments of a rocket launch!
This set contains a total of 632 pieces, and once assembled, it stands approximately 70 cm tall. Its biggest highlight is the ability to launch the rocket by turning a handle and experience exciting separation mechanisms! These include the detachment of the Solid Rocket Boosters from the core stage, the separation of the core stage itself, and the separation of the engine module, Orion spacecraft, and Launch Escape System. It's a highly educational LEGO model! Notably, you can lift the base cover to admire the interlocking gear mechanisms, and the set also includes four micro-scale astronaut minifigures.
