Following the joint announcement from DC Comics and Marvel Comics that their two most iconic superheroes, Superman and Spider-Man, would reunite in 2026 for a crossover event after half a century, the publishers have now unveiled multiple variant covers for the upcoming "Superman/Spider-Man #1."
The success of this year's "Deadpool/Batman" and "Batman/Deadpool" crossovers has already demonstrated the enduring appeal of Marvel and DC's collaborations. The new series, set to debut next year, holds particular symbolic weight as it marks the 50th anniversary of the 1976 release of "Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man." 
This new crossover will launch on March 25, 2026, with Mark Waid and Jorge Jimenez serving as the primary creative team. The story sees Superman (Clark Kent) and Spider-Man (Peter Parker) meet while investigating the same news story, gradually becoming entangled in a global conspiracy. The two heroes will confront a combined threat from Brainiac and Doctor Octopus.
The overall narrative pays homage to the 1970s original while also reflecting Brainiac's increased prominence in recent Superman films. The tone maintains the classic "misunderstanding first, then team-up" trope, but presents it in a more complex way, tailored for modern readers. 
A major highlight of this series is its continuation of the multi-story anthology format seen in this year's crossover titles, inviting numerous top creators to craft additional content. These include:
Tom King and Jim Lee will focus on a dual female perspective featuring Lois Lane and Mary Jane. Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber will once again helm Jimmy Olsen, pairing him unexpectedly with Carnage.
Sean Murphy's crossover segment will see Superboy meet Spider-Man 2099. Gail Simone and Belen Ortega will deliver an explosive pairing of Power Girl and The Punisher.
Christopher Priest and Daniel Sampere will also depict Superboy-Prime visiting Spider-Man while he's still in his symbiote suit, a story sure to spark considerable discussion. Finally, Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott will bring the action back to the newsrooms, illustrating a media race between The Daily Planet and The Daily Bugle.
Additionally, the official channels will re-release two classic crossover titles, including a 50th-anniversary collector's edition of "Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man," set for January 2026, and "DC and Marvel Present: Superman and Spider-Man" in February.
