After a period away from mainstream Hollywood due to his high-profile legal battles with ex-wife Amber Heard, Johnny Depp is steadily making his return to major studio productions. He recently signed on for the thriller "Day Drinker," directed by Marc Webb, known for "The Amazing Spider-Man" series. Following that, he joined the cast of "Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol," a new adaptation of the classic tale helmed by Ti West, the writer-director behind the "X" trilogy. Now, Depp has announced another significant project.

During a recent appearance at the Red Sea Film Festival, Depp confirmed plans to develop a film adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov's renowned Russian literary classic, "The Master and Margarita." This marks the first time the acclaimed novel will be adapted into an English-language feature film. Depp will produce the project under his IN.2 Film banner and is also considering taking on a starring role himself. Production is slated to begin in late 2026. While the Red Sea Fund previously invested in Depp's film "Jeanne du Barry," it is not financing this particular project, which was instead announced at the festival's market.
