Following the trailblazing launch of James Gunn's "Superman" this year, DC's newly rebooted cinematic universe is set to continue its expansion next summer with the highly anticipated "Supergirl" solo film. The first global trailer for the movie dropped early this morning.
The film is helmed by "Cruella" director Craig Gillespie, with the screenplay penned by DC Universe's go-to scribe, Ana Nogueira. Nogueira is also currently developing a live-action "Teen Titans" movie and a new "Wonder Woman" film.

The star-studded cast features Milly Alcock, the breakout star from HBO's "House of the Dragon," stepping into the role of Superman's cousin, Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl. Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts is set to portray the formidable antagonist, General Krem. Notably, former "Aquaman" star Jason Momoa makes a significant jump to the new DC Universe, taking on the role of the alien bounty hunter Lobo. Cannes Best Actress Emily Beecham will play Kara's mother, Alura In-Ze, with David Krumholtz cast as her father, Zor-El. David Corenswet, the new Superman (Kal-El), is also confirmed for a cameo appearance. The film is scheduled to hit North American theaters on June 26 next year.
