This latest acquisition builds on Sony's previous purchase of approximately 39% of Peanuts Holdings in 2018. With the new 41% stake, Sony's total ownership will reach 80%, while the family of "Peanuts" creator Charles M. Schulz will retain the remaining 20%. In a statement, WildBrain noted that the deal would allow them to fully resolve their current debt crisis, providing enhanced financial flexibility to develop other prominent IPs in their portfolio, including "Strawberry Shortcake" and "Teletubbies."
