Veteran director Robert Reiner, known for classics like "A Few Good Men" and "When Harry Met Sally...", was fatally stabbed last week at his Los Angeles home by his son, Nick Reiner, leaving his wife Michele Singer and sending shockwaves through Hollywood. The tragic news devastated countless industry friends, including Oscar winner Michael Douglas, who shared a close personal bond with the director.

Douglas, who collaborated with Reiner on films such as "The American President" and "And So It Goes," recently spoke to CBS for a special tribute, emotionally recalling his conversations with Reiner. He noted that the two often shared their experiences helping their sons battle drug addiction. Douglas shared that his own son had struggled with drug issues, but was now happily living a fulfilling life. He added that he and Reiner often discussed these topics, focusing on what they, as parents, could and could not do.
Both Nick Reiner and Douglas's son, Cameron Douglas, had long histories of substance abuse. Cameron had even served eight years in prison after being arrested for selling crystal meth to fund his own addiction. Tragically, Rob Reiner's son ultimately committed an even greater tragedy, leaving an irreparable scar on the family.
