As the pioneering superhero of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Robert Downey Jr. famously enjoyed unparalleled luxury on Marvel sets. Many of his co-stars have publicly recounted that Downey's on-set "trailer" wasn't just a simple dressing room, but an expansive "compound" complete with a private chef. This exclusive perk was unique to him; others wishing to visit his compound often had to schedule their time to join him for a meal.

While Marvel actors who had previously worked with Downey were accustomed to this setup, Simu Liu, the "Shang-Chi" star making his debut alongside Downey in "Avengers: Doomsday," was reportedly astonished upon his first encounter with the lavish compound.

During a recent interview with Collider to promote his new series "The Copenhagen Test," Liu recounted his initial shock. He explained that Downey was renowned for having an entire fleet of trailers on Marvel sets, affectionately dubbed "Downey-land" by the cast and crew. "I remember the first time I was invited to Downey-land," Liu shared, "I walked into the tent, and it was filled with beautiful Andy Warhol-style paintings, but every single person in the paintings was Robert Downey Jr."

Liu continued, "Anyway, Downey greeted me, and then I found out that Downey-land had its own private chef. I had actually brought my own lunchbox, so Downey told me, 'Oh no, no, no, we don't bring our own food here.' Because the chefs had already laid out an entire lavish buffet, and I thought, 'Okay, I'll just put my lunchbox away.' Then I watched all these people walking around, and I just couldn't believe I was having lunch with all these huge stars."
