The Hollywood Reporter (THR) recently revealed in a feature article on Paramount/Skydance's internal operations that the studio's future slate will be significantly more commercial, with a drastic reduction in art-house dramas. More precisely, Paramount/Skydance is now pursuing large-scale, "testosterone-fueled" blockbusters. Examples include the live-action "Call of Duty" movie and a $100 million budget heist action film starring Timothée Chalamet , both of which align with their current strategy.

Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Paramount/Skydance is now entirely focused on commercial profitability, interested only in mainstream and established intellectual properties. Other projects, like art-house dramas specifically targeting awards season and Oscar nominations, are largely being ignored. The studio has even decided to disband its already small internal awards campaign team, which will be officially dissolved once the current awards season concludes.
In addition to reducing their focus on art-house projects, Paramount/Skydance has also canceled several projects that were in development. For example, the "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" spin-off "Sam and Victor's Day Off," which began development three years ago, and an Area 51-themed film produced by Ryan Reynolds were both scrapped. Even commercially oriented projects are being rejected if their commercial viability is deemed insufficient.
