However, Rourke recently took to Instagram to clarify in a video that he was completely unaware of the fundraiser, which he stated falsely claimed to have his consent.
In the video, Rourke expressed his profound frustration and confusion, questioning the motives behind a campaign launched in his name. He emphatically stated that he was not behind it, adding that if he ever needed money, he would "rather put a gun up my ass and pull the trigger" than beg for handouts. Rourke further clarified that he had "never heard of GoFundMe" in his life, emphasizing his simple lifestyle and his aversion to seeking help through such platforms.
Rourke urged fans to refrain from donating and to request refunds. He confirmed he has contacted lawyers to address the situation, telling fans to "get your money back" because he doesn't "solve things this way" and his "pride is too strong." While Rourke acknowledged recent financial struggles, he confirmed he had already secured a loan from a close friend to alleviate the pressure. He reiterated, "I would never ask a stranger, a fan, or anyone for a single cent; that's not my style." Rourke also reassured his fanbase that he has upcoming work projects and that his situation is stabilizing.
Regarding the true initiator of the fundraiser, Rourke stated, "I can only think of one person who would do this, but I hope it's not the person I'm thinking of. It's too insulting."
