At the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Danish toy company LEGO announced a new play system combining cutting-edge technology: LEGO SMART Play! This system will allow LEGO fans worldwide to experience a richer and more comprehensive entertainment experience when building bricks. The key to all of this lies in the debut of the 2x4 brick: LEGO SMART Brick.

LEGO views LEGO SMART Play as the most significant evolution of the "LEGO System-in-Play" since the introduction of the LEGO Minifigure in 1978. This 2x4 LEGO SMART Brick will be equipped with sensors for light, sound, and motion, and will also feature real-time audio-visual interactive effects. This means that with just this one brick, you can experience new fun without needing a mobile phone or smart device. What's even better is that this brick supports wireless charging.

In addition to the LEGO SMART Brick, the LEGO SMART Play system also includes LEGO SMART Tags and LEGO SMART Minifigures, which can be seen as extensions of the LEGO SMART Brick play experience. Based on the information released so far, the LEGO SMART Brick can sense LEGO SMART Tags labeled as ducks or dinosaurs. Not only will it emit animal sounds, but when you move a model with LEGO SMART Tags installed, the LEGO SMART Brick will also provide different feedback based on your movement patterns.

LEGO SMART Play will launch new Star Wars-themed products in March 2026, at which point LEGO fans will be able to personally experience the charm of this newly evolved play system! Personally, what I'm most curious about is the potential of the LEGO SMART Brick. Beyond pairing with LEGO SMART Tags and LEGO SMART Minifigures, how many other ways can it be played? And for this screen-free interactive play experience, will its appeal, versatility, and ability to inspire children's creativity truly win over LEGO fans worldwide and lead to the creation of an even more complete play system? We eagerly await to find out.
