KOTOBUKIYA, a Japanese model kit manufacturer, has announced the upcoming release of its latest character, "Al-Ariel," from the "ARCANADEA" series, a beautiful girl plastic model kit line that blends fantasy and sci-fi elements. She is scheduled to be released in March 2026.
Designed by Japanese illustrator Z-TON, the new character Al-Ariel is a Divine Bird-type Dear with a straightforward and gentle personality. While she may seem to struggle with expressing emotions, she actually processes thoughts at high speed in her mind, possessing keen insight and analytical abilities. However, she can be a bit scatterbbrained when it comes to her own affairs. Her favorite food is curry, to the extent that she'd say, "Curry is a drink, isn't it?" She is good friends with the Snake-type Dear Meltina, but recently Meltina has become infatuated with Lumitea, which has left Al-Ariel feeling a bit flustered.
"Al-Ariel" utilizes precisely sculpted multi-color molded parts to recreate Z-TON's depiction of her voluptuous and alluring figure, dynamic wing designs, and attire and armaments imbued with rich mythological elements. The highly articulated body features double joints in the upper arms, providing a flexible range of motion, and maintains beautiful body contours in many areas not covered by clothing. The wings on her head and waist are also connected by movable shafts, allowing for dynamic angles that change with her pose.
Accessories include 6 pairs of sculpted hands and 4 pre-printed face parts for replacement, allowing for various beautiful and alluring poses and vivid emotional expressions for Al-Ariel. Furthermore, the connecting shaft in her chest and abdomen is compatible with other Z-TON-designed characters such as "Irena" and "Meltina," allowing for interchangeable upper and lower body parts.
In her non-combat, normal mode, Al-Ariel's familiar can transform into two forms, "Demon Form" or "Lamp Form," by swapping parts. It can also combine with unused armament mode parts, allowing the familiar in Demon Form to wield various weapons, or further combine with the Demon Form to create a large bird-shaped familiar that Al-Ariel can ride.
By equipping the familiar and various armament parts onto Al-Ariel's body, her Harpy-like armed mode, fused with mythological elements, can be recreated. Brass-colored molded parts express a metallic texture, and every joint and small decoration features articulation. The bird legs adopt a reverse joint design, and both the toes and claws are movable, allowing for dynamic poses filled with intricate details. Her main weapon, a double-bladed spear, can be separated into two weapons from the middle, and she also comes with sub-weapons such as a "ring blade" and "scimitar."
