Actress Evangeline Lilly, known for her roles in multiple Marvel films, recently revealed on social media that she was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury following an accident last year. Recent test results show significant decline in function across multiple brain regions, indicating cognitive impairment, drawing widespread concern from fans and the entertainment industry.

Lilly posted a video on Instagram, stating that in May 2025, she fainted suddenly on the beach, hitting her head directly on a rock, which resulted in a severe head injury.
She disclosed that recent brain scans revealed nearly all brain regions are functioning below normal levels, and doctors have confirmed that the accident caused lasting brain damage. She stated that she now faces a long and challenging journey of rehabilitation and treatment, working closely with her medical team to understand the full extent of the injury.
However, Lilly is approaching her current situation with a calm perspective, noting that the decline in cognitive ability has compelled her to slow down, allowing her much-needed rest during the final months of 2025. She described this period as the most peaceful and truly restful time she's had since becoming a mother 14 years ago, suggesting it hasn't been entirely negative for her mind and body.

Lilly has previously spoken about experiencing fainting spells since her youth, and this accident has exacerbated the issue. Following the video's release, numerous industry friends sent messages of support, including Marvel co-star Michelle Pfeiffer and "Lost" actress Rebecca Mader.
