Kotobukiya's "Frame Arms Girl Shingen" - Kunio Okawara's Original Mecha Girl Design with Cool Sengoku-Style Armaments!

The popular mecha girl plastic model kit series "Frame Arms Girl" from Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya has released its new product, "Shingen," which officially went on sale in Japan on December 24, 2025.

Shingen is the first mecha designed by Gundam series mechanical designer Kunio Okawara for the "Frame Arms" series. Its prototype is inspired by the Sengoku period daimyo "Takeda Shingen," departing from the series' past style with an exterior full of Japanese samurai imagery. The outer armor resembles Takeda's Akazonae (red armor), and the two flag-like armor pieces suspended from the backpack feature patterns honoring the Takeda clan's crest, the "Takeda Hishi." Its armaments include Sengoku-style Japanese swords and matchlock guns.

"Frame Arms Girl Shingen" has been sculpted into a beautiful girl figure after illustrator Fumikane Shimada captured its characteristics and redrew them. It features a fully new parts design for its movable body, blending mechanical and Japanese elements. It has gray hair and brown skin, and the white fur "attachment" from the original helmet has been transformed into cute cat ears, creating a look that is energetic, cute, and sexy.

While the original Frame Arms version deliberately featured a "Gundam" style face, the Frame Arms Girl version includes a mask part reminiscent of the "masked men" famous in the Gundam series, which is a rather amusing homage. Along with the mask-wearing expression, the accessories include 5 pre-painted face parts and 5 pairs of PVC interchangeable hand parts. The hair parts can be chosen with or without cat ears, and the crotch area can be fitted with either triangular armor or a movable loincloth.

By replacing some body parts, Shingen can transform into an armed mode with a silhouette similar to its original Frame Arms prototype. The armor is composed of multiple molded colors such as red, black, and gold, and includes decals to reproduce the various family crest patterns. The left and right flag-like wings connected to the backpack feature movable and deployable mechanisms. Weapons include two Japanese swords, "Rai Kunitoshi" (large) and "Hoshizukiyo Masamune" (small), as well as one long and one short "Palm-sized Blunderbuss."
